Practicing Archery and Zen
This week I challenge you to reach out to your local archery range and take a lesson. Archery is a fantastic sport that while easy to start, is very difficult to master because it requires your entire focus in the moment.
While practicing archery you become extremely aware of your entire body. Every muscle and limb working together to send the arrow down the range exactly where you want. However one of the biggest blockers for new people to the sport is knowing when to stop thinking and just do.
When you draw an arrow you can’t meticulously overthink everything, is your arm in the right place, is your stance correct? Doing this will quickly tire your body out as you hold the string back. Instead in a fluid motion you need to be able to trust you have everything in the right place and let go without thinking in order to get the best accuracy and results.
Here are some of the results of my last archery outing!
